Odonata
Dream. Wander through a world inhabited by giant insects, standing peacefully on the ground.
“Odonata” invites you to take a stroll among these illuminated creatures, their gradual light variations captivating the visitor. Who is not fascinated by the quick and colourful flight of a dragonfly ?
Measuring over 2 metres, these creatures seem to levitate above the lawn, encouraging contemplation. Fitted with LEDs, their bodies and wings create light variations recalling all the diversity of dragonflies, damselflies and bluets.
EXPRESS BIOGRAPHY
The work of Julien Menzel, a Franco-German artist from Lyon, can be described as mastering the light, sculpting it, spreading it to create immersive media. Thanks to technologies such as mapping or controlling LEDs by means of software, he opens up a world for the public who are invited to participate in the work through interactive media. He offers us the chance to escape from our passive contemplation.
